Instructor Support:

After you enroll a licensed real estate instructor will be available for questions Monday through Friday between 9:00 A. M. EST and 5:00 P. M. EST.  

We encourage students to e-mail the instructor with questions regarding the On-Line course at instructors@cookeschool.com .  With an e-mail to the instructor, the student will have a written document of the response. 

For questions by e-mail, there is a 24 Hour response time Monday through Friday, E-mails over Saturday, Sunday or a legal holiday will be returned the first business day.

Computer Capability:  Minimum system requirements:

  • 750 MHz processor or faster

  • High Speed Internet connection.

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or greater
  • Window 2000 must have Service Pack 3

  • This course is NOT Apple or Mac compatible even with Virtual PC.

How does an On-line program work?

  1. This course is composed of 5 Modules plus a review and a proctored end-of-course exam.  Each module has an assessment quiz after each lesson.   The criterion for questions in each of the lessons is 80%.  The criterion for the lesson is 90%.
  2. The course is designed with learning objectives so as the student goes through the unit, the student knows what the objectives are.
  3. As the study progress through the course, the student must finish each lesson before going to the next lesson.
  4. On each page their is a link to the on-line dictionary, which a student can search for any real estate related word as necessary.  An internet connection is a necessity to get the most out of this course. 
  5. On each page of the course is the "?" sign.  By clicking on the "?" the student can e-mail the instructor with any questions they might have.
  6. Some of the modules require outside work to be completed. The assignments are are "real world" and must be completed and reviewed by "a Reviewer" which can be your Qualifying Broker or a designee (office trainer or mentor).  If that is not possible, mail the to the real estate school and the on-line instructor will review them.   
  7. The end-of-course exam is 100 multiple choice questions and the student needs to score a 70% on the Exam

Information the student needs to know before taking this course:

  1. Once the student purchases this course, the student CANNOT get a refund.
  2. The student has ONE year to complete the program. Alabama law does not allow an extension of the course beyond one year.  
  3. This course is Downloadable from the Americas Best website.   The student can work through the course at the student's convenience. 
  4. At the time of purchase and download of the 3 Hour Risk Management Course, the student will receive an e-mail from Americas Best, verifying the student's registration. 
  5. The real estate instructor will also e-mail the student within 24 hours of registration.  Cooke Real Estate School encourages students to e-mail the instructor if they have any questions. 
  6. Every On-Line student must agree to the following Student Affidavit : "I certify that I personally completed all assignments and that my work is based on my own personal efforts, unassisted by any unauthorized individual or resource.  I understand that receiving unauthorized assistance or tampering  with results will invalidate my course credit and may be cause of action under the real estate laws and regulations of Alabama".
  7. The school student records are kept for five years from the date of the completion of the course.  Student records include the student's name, the address,license number, social security number,date of enrollment, course title, records of completion of the various unit/chapter quizzes, time spend on each  unit, copies of course material including timeline and objectives, plus copies of course material (homework) that are turned in a final examination records are all kept at the school.

Objectives of the course:

Students will be able to:

  • Identify the necessity of risk management
  • Evaluate statistics to determine highest areas of risk in a real estate transaction
  • Determine critical issues and how behavioral change could change the outcome in risky situations
  • Formulate responses to specific questions asked by a potential real estate purchaser
  • Recall the agency options allowed under Alabama License Law
  • List the elements of a legal contract and decide whether certain contracts meet test of legality
  • Classify certain "standard clauses" and  discuss the licensee's role in creating language, addendums, etc.
  • Recall basis of fair housing law and protected classes under Alabama Law
  • Formulate legal and ethical responses to fair housing questions or requests
  • Discuss how federal anti-trust laws apply to the business of real estate
  • Formulate responses to inquiries involving potential anti-trust violations
